You may have noticed, the mainline media is filled with news stories and newscasts and TV shows telling Americans that trial lawyers are out of control. I believe the media, partially. Unfortunately, the media is primarily attacking the wrong guys. The trial and class action lawyers are, taken as a whole, perhaps the only truly good guy lawyers in America. These lawyers represent average people -- often for nothing -- who have been hurt by big business, big government and big labor. Their bad press comes from the vast amount of other lawyers and politicians paid for by corporations and government and labor. For more information about this click here on Dick's Guide to Trial Lawyers Helping Americans
One of the big lies from the corporate community and the corporate legal community is that all sorts of court time is being taken up by people suing for frivolous matters. This is pure baloney. The overwhelming number of civil cases choking the courts are brought by big money corporations against other big money corporations or government. These suits often take years to settle. Still another big lie is that Corporations can police themselves. The truth is that corporations make news every day when they're caught hurting -- or trying to hurt -- thousands of people. It's very clear that neither Enron -- or the accountants and lawyers they hired -- policed themselves. For more information on this in general see Dick's Guide to Corporations Damaging Americans.
Here are a list of corporations that have been identified as hurting people. Note that not all of these cases have been decided by the courts. In such cases the corporations (just as people) are considered legally innocent of the charges. This page will point you to resources where you can decide for yourself whether or not the corporations are guilty of the charges. As you look at any of these stories, ask yourself this question. Will America be a better place if our federal and state politicians sell out to their corporate contributors and make it easier for the corporations to avoids law suits when they screw the sick, the poor, their employees and even their own stockholders. Would any of the misdeeds of corporations be less likely or more likely to occur when corporation lawsuits are curtailed.
