How Older American
Politicians, Lawyers and Bureaucrats Screw Young People, all the time
When the going gets tough, The Clintons can depend on their Attorney General,
Janet Reno. See
Books about Janet Reno
A low life, working for the Clintons, stole Linda Tripp's confidential records
and leaked them to the media. Stinking of urination, it was fairly
easy to recognize the leaker. But, Janet Reno and one of her underlings,
Lee Radek, Chief
of the Criminal Division's Public Integrity Section, came to the rescue.
(Note, William Safire reported in 1997 that Justice sources said Lee Radick
was upset by the demand by David Barrett, Independent Counsel in the Cisneros
adultery and lying case, for telephone records of Radick's Department. Radick
is in the Public Integrity section of the Department of Justice, where
the Clinton campaign corruption scandal has been pretty much conytained,
Safire feels by chief Lee Radek and Jo Ann Farrington.)
When the Landmark Legal Foundation
asked for an investigation, Janet's employee, Lee Radick, justifed foot dragging
by the Justice Department on the urinator saying "An inquiry into this
matter is already underway within the Defense Department, to which the Justice
Department will defer until such time that a prosecutive opinion is sought
concerning any potential criminal violation.''
This did not satisfy the Landmark Legal Foundation who found it strange that
the top criminal investigation organization in the country would wait upon
legal advice from the Army. Landmark's president, Mark R. Levin, said,
"This is outrageous. The Justice Department is waiting to be told by the
Defense Department whether any laws have been broken. Clearly, Mrs. Tripp's
rights under the Privacy Act and the Constitution's Fourth Amendment were
violated. In any event, the Justice Department should not defer law enforcement
decisions to other federal agencies, and traditionally it does not. It has
primary responsibility for enforcing the law. There is a disturbing pattern
emerging from the Clinton Justice Department. Recently, United States Attorney
P.K. Holmes III, with the apparent support of senior Justice Department
officials, opened an investigation of Mr. Starr's key Whitewater witness,
David Hale, despite the fact that Mr. Holmes did not have legal jurisdiction
to do so. Yet, when another key Starr witness, Mrs. Tripp, has her rights
violated, the Justice Department refuses to act.'' While Mr. Levin
was in the Justice Department, he did not seem to learn that lawyer-politicians
never use their power to give an even break to anyone. As readers of
Dick's Guides know,
all politicians take care of themselves, their families, their friends and
their paying customers. Honesty and fair dealing have little meaning
to people trained to first protect themselves.
Levin added, "The message seems clear and consistent. If you cooperate
with Independent Counsel Starr's investigation of the President, you may
be subjected to intimidation and abuse which the Justice Department will
either ignore or even encourage.'' Readers of Dick's Guide could
have predicted this, since a successful Starr investigation will change the
power structure in Washington. Democrats and givers to Democrats would not
like this. Afterall, Radek works for Reno and Reno works for Clinton. R.
Emmett Tyrrell, Jr. wrote, " Five years of scholarly research into the
Clintons' milieu has led me to perceive the first couple differently. I no
longer see them exclusively in political terms. I am beginning to see them
in terms of pathology, namely as a virus. Consider their influence on the
saintly Attorney General Janet Reno. Like them, she now places herself above
the law. Like them, she speaks in a weird argot, intoning the platitudinous
as momentous, magisterial, heroic."
